Puerh tea price is stable

Spring rains in Yunnan were sporadic this year, and the overall tea area was in a thirsty state. Due to the drought weather, tea production fell. According to the inertial thinking of the normal market, tea prices must increase. But the fact is that some spring teas have not increased in price. Why? Is it not because the price of tea has reached the “pressure line”, or is the helplessness of the tea farmers “retaining” the tea merchants, or is there something hidden behind it?

Lao Ban Zhang's "Tea King Tree" Spring Tea Auction Is Cold!
"Tea king tree auction" has become one of the important means of mountain tea commercial hype in recent years, and it also directly affects the price of mountain tea. It is precisely through the "Tea King Auction" that the price of the Banzhang has soared, and there is no news this year.

In 2014, the transaction price was 160,000 yuan, and the price of ordinary tea in Banzhang was more than 2,000 yuan per kilogram;
In 2015, the transaction price was 202,000 yuan, and the price of ordinary tea for banzhang was 3,000 yuan per kilogram;
Purchased by mysterious guests in 2016, Banzhang big tree Tea rose to 6000 yuan per kilogram;

In 2017, the transaction price was 320,000 yuan, and Banzhang big tree tea rose to 8,000 yuan per kilogram;

In 2018, the transaction price was 680,000 yuan, and Banzhang big tree tea rose to 13,000 yuan per kilogram.

Who is the key factor affecting the price trend of mountain tea?

The price of well-known mountain tea represented by Lao Banzhang stopped rising for the first time this year, and the current "bad weather" is no longer the reason for the price increase. In recent years, tea farmers have outsourced the picking rights of ancient tea trees at high prices, and outsourcing parties have collected as many tea greens as possible in order to recover costs, but this has caused great harm to ancient tea trees. Become a microcosm of the future hype "Tea King Tree" of other well-known mountain tea.

Some senior tea merchants have begun to leave the famous tea mountains in the past two years. They believe that there are many tea mountains in Yunnan, there are many unknown tea mountains, and many ancient tea trees are left in the corners that have not yet been discovered. It will surpass some well-known mountain teas. There are even some tea merchants transiting to Myanmar, Laos and other countries bordering the domestic tea mountain to find ancient tea trees and ancient tea gardens.

During the same period, production has been greatly reduced, and prices are basically the same as last year.

At present, the first spring tea in the major tea mountains is basically finished. If there is no more tea, the second spring tea will sprout again. Compared with the same period last year, the tea tree germinated late and the output declined. Last year, when tea growers were the most during the same period last year, six people were required to pick for a week. And this year, the situation where six people concentrated on mining no longer exists. Only two days after picking, there will be no fresh leaves.
But people are not as good as the sky. Although the yield of Spring Tea has been reduced due to drought this year, some of the younger Terrace tea and small tree tea in the major mountain tea areas have slightly increased their prices due to the sharp reduction in production. The prices of tree tea and ancient tree tea have not changed compared with last year.

The quality of spring tea is still good, the taste is better than last year.
The drought has brought a certain degree of impact to the entire market, but for now, the quality of spring tea has not been affected this year. Tea friends who have tasted Maocha said that the quality of the tea in the Lincang or Puerh production areas may have improved compared to last year. Despite the drought this year, tea is rich in materials, which is not only suitable for drinking now, but also suitable for long-term storage, which is conducive to the transformation of the "Shengpu" later.

Tea will eventually become one of the national drinks, whether it is hundreds or thousands, the one with the highest cost performance will become everyone's favorite "rational tea".

Pu-erh tea price factors

First. Location of the tea materials: Since ancient times, the tea materials of the ancient six major tea mountains have been the most popular among consumers. The current tea materials in Banzhang, Jingmai, and Qianjiazhai District of Zhenyuan County, Pu-erh City are also very popular. The sought after, followed by the tea materials in the original Simao, Pu-erh, Jiangcheng and Lincang areas, the price is generally arranged in this way.

Second. The grade of materials: As for Pu-erh loose tea, it is generally divided into 12 grades (special grade, 1-10 grade, extra-grade grade). Etc.) The general rules of use are: cake tea is better than gourd and tuo tea, followed by brick tea, etc. (of course, this is only the majority and cannot be considered in isolation). The higher the grade, the higher the cost.

Third. The historical significance of the development of finished products: In each period, there are some finished teas such as "regular products", "made-to-order products", "souvenirs", "collectibles", "limited products" and so on. Under the premise of ensuring their quality Because of their historical significance and their small sales volume, their prices should be higher.

Forth. The way of storage after the finished product: Puer tea is stored in dry and wet bins. The tea stored in the pure dry bin can effectively ensure the authenticity (natural nature) of Pu-erh tea, but the aging (fermentation after natural) is equivalently slow; wet warehouse preservation is to artificially control the humidity and temperature to make it age quickly (this will largely destroy the authenticity of Pu-erh tea). Therefore, the price of Pu-erh tea stored in dry warehouse is higher, but There may be more people drinking dry warehouses than wet warehouses.

Fifth. Year after finished product: The longer the year, the higher the price. Of course, this depends on the brand and product attributes. For example, if you have a large brand with strong liquidity and a short continuity, the tea produced by a famous factory will be very expensive after many years.

Sixth. Geographical location of the finished product: The geographical location of the product is similar to that of dry and wet warehouses because of the different climates in different places, such as the difference in humidity and temperature. Therefore, the higher the humidity, the higher the temperature. The closer the local tea is stored to the wet storage, that is, the more Pu-erhtea stored in these places, the lower the price should be.

Seventh. Cost of sales determined by region: Region is an incentive for the product price system. For example, the famous camellia prices are generally very high. However, there are also increased transportation costs due to labor costs and inconvenient transportation, as well as the accumulation of publicity costs. When the original products are not very high, the price is much higher when sold to consumers.

Why Is Laobanzhang Tea Price So High?

Lao Banzhang is a small hilly village located deep in the Bulang mountain to the southeast of Ouxunba, Erhai County, Xishuangbanna. The administrative division is under the jurisdiction of Erhai Banzhang Village Committee. It is about 60 kilometers away from Erhai County. The Banzhang Village Committee has nine natural villages (village groups) under the jurisdiction of the old Banzhang, the new Banzhang, and the old Mane.
"Banzhang" means "a place to feed fish". At present, there are more than a hundred households in the whole village of Laobanzhang, all of which are Aini. Each person has about 100 ancient tea trees, which is the main economic income of the villagers.
At the end of the 1990s, few people knew the old Banzhang. Later, with the continuous popularity of Pu-erh tea, the old Banzhang tea was gradually valued for its excellent quality. Due to the small annual output and the constant pursuit of the tea industry, the old Banzhang tea quickly became popular:
In 2000, the Erhai Tea Factory purchased the old Banzhang Pu-erh tea at a price of 8 yuan per kilogram. At that time, it was mainly suspected that its tea buds were too large and the color was not ideal, so the purchase price was lower than the tea outside.
Spring tea in 2007 suddenly spiked from 1000 yuan to 2000 yuan per kilogram! In the same period, the Yiwu ancient tree tea, which was second only to the old Banzhang tea in the market, was 600-800 yuan.
From 2008 to 2009, although the price of Pu-erh tea was low, the old Banzhang tea remained at 700-900 yuan.
In 2013, the purchase price of 4,000 yuan per kilogram of wool tea made the old Banzhang the object of criticism, and the focus of the media outside the province was price and speculation.
But how many people know why Banzhang old Tea became the king of price? How many people know the poverty of Banzhang Village 10 years ago?
Pu-erh tea has been sluggish since the beginning of 2007. The idea of creating a mountain through the joint efforts of people in an industry and pulling a tea area through the mountain tea effect is both realistic and successful. These were not problems, but now they are problems.
Of course, the response of the Yunnan tea industry is also startling. Everyone argues about the price and denies it. This thinking of chasing outsiders makes people feel strange, and this thinking has been in the domestic market since 2000. To put it plainly, the first is the lack of independent thinking in the industry, and the second is the lack of countermeasures in the industry.
In fact, Pu-erh tea, big tree tea, and small tree tea cultivated on the terrace, are just one of the raw materials of Pu-erh tea. The price of Pu-erh tea is high or low, and it is normal. The same goes for the brand Pu-erh Tea. However, tea marketing has been using the traditional sales model for thousands of years. Most manufacturers have poor brand awareness and have to rely on products to speak. This has created a situation in which the Pu-erh tea industry is working together to create "mountain tea".
On the surface, "Famous Camellia" seems to be representative of Pu-erh high-end tea, but this is actually a misunderstanding. Because even if you get good raw materials, you don't get good tea. Puer tea raw materials, processing technology, and storage are three indispensable processes.
